Point Lookout

This past weekend James and Jackie invited Mary and Jason and I for a weekend up at Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island. Last year we were on the island to volunteer for the Moreton Bay Research Station's open day, but that was in Dunwich. Point Lookout is the more touristy spot on the opposite side of the island, facing the open Pacific.

Us on the North Gorge walk.

On the opposite side of the gorge.

Mary and I in front of Main Beach.

These birds were either fighting or mating. Sometimes it's difficult to tell, much like with humans.

This is a wagtail willy, a type of bird that uses it's large tail to counterbalance it while doing crazy maneuvers in midair.

A piece of coral washed up on the beach near Dunwich.

Cylinder Beach from the headlands. I want to come back here and string up my hammock between those two trees.

A little succulent on the cliffs.

Sandpipers or oyster pickers, I'm not sure which.

This picture was taken shortly before the plovers started going apeshit and swooping and diving at me for approaching their nest. I just wanted to see the babies.

  2. Oystercatchers, actually. And those plovers are vicious beasts.
