Ripple Rock

Mom and dad and Mary and I went up to Ripple Rock RV just north of Campbell River for some glamour camping (aka glamping) in their big new RV. It was a great place - very relaxing and right on the water. While we were there we did a hike out to a bluff overlooking Seymour Narrows, the ex-site of Ripple Rock. Ripple Rock was a titanic treacherous rock that sunk or damaged 120 odd ships until finally being blown up in 1958. The blast was the largest commercial non-nuclear explosion in history and thankfully it is commemorated in this video here.

Browning Bay in the morning fog.

Buzzing around in the zodiac.

These two eagles hung out up in the tree looking over the RVs.

Kelp gardens just off the shore.

Hurray for underwater cameras.

He looks so sad.

Clearly there are sea otters in this bay.

I love that you can see the pollen on this guy.
