Townsville

This week James and I headed up to Townsville for a few days to check out some industrial sites. We hit the nickel refinery at Yabulu and the Sun Metals zinc refinery down the road. In between trips, we did a bit of touristy stuff around the city, including climbing up Castle Hill, the mini mountain that looks over the city.

The view from our balcony.

A big chunk of coral from the nearby Great Barrier Reef.

Castle Hill at night in the middle of the city.

The same place from Queen's Garden, one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in Australia.

The city, from Castle Hill.

James and I from the top of Castle Hill.

On the way back down.

Christmas in 33C high humidity.

The ugliest bird I have ever seen.

The cockatoos were nicer though. They followed me around the cage, staying right in my face.
