Beenleigh Kitten

Last week we spent a few days down in Beenleigh in the 'burbs house sitting for one of Mary's actor friends. It was a nice week because they had a pool, a couple cats, a couple dogs, and a nice TV with a bunch of DVDs. The first morning I spent there was a little too exciting though.

At about 7:15am as I was leaving for work I went out into the back yard to grab my bike and found blood all over the patio. One of the dogs, a black lab named Nina, had gouged her achilles tendon on her back leg and she was bleeding profusely. Mary and I had to field dress her with some torn up face cloths until we could arrange for a trip to the vet. The dog made it OK but after a few hours of surgery she'll have a metal plate in her leg for another couple months. Ness, the owner, credits us with saving the dog's life as she lost a lot blood despite our efforts and would have lost more without us preventing the bleeding. Pretty crazy.

Despite that one morning, it was great to get some animal time, since we don't get a lot of that down here. We spent most of our time relaxing with Millie, the little 2 or 3 month old kitten. These are photos of her and Mary playing in the pool.
